American Idol made the brave, and probably foolish, choice of making Andrew Lloyd Webber this week's mentor. Over the episode, I came to like Lord Webber – he actually gave constructive criticism, was not afraid to say something negative, and was a genuine nurturer throughout. That doesn't mean I liked the fact that he was involved in episode, however. What tonight's American Idol did was allow a couple of the contestants to play to their strengths, leaving the others in an impossible situation: singing in a genre that they had no chance of succeeding in. Simon Cowell always says that American Idol is a singing competition. If it is, why would Idol consistently give specific singers distinct advantages? Big voices can sing musical theater – soft voices cannot. It's not fair. But, we take what we can get from American Idol, and the rankings are probably going to be right in line with most everyone's thoughts on the night. To read the rest, click here.

It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. I know you like Brooke but -- honestly -- how miffed would you be if you had payed good money to see say -- Sarah MacLachlan in concert and she didn't know her !@#!@? Each week Brooke is asking millions of people to vote for her -- after that she is asking consumers to purchase her album or pay to come see her in concert. Don't you think that it is her responsibility to know her material so well that if she does make a mistake (she is human after all) she is able to get thru it without falling apart? I really don't think that is too much to ask of somone who is asking us to believe that they ae the American Idol.

i think Brooke forgetting and having to restart her song for a second time this season should finally send her home. she was rattled throughout the song, which is understandable after her misstep in beginning but unexcusable since it is her second time doing this.i think the bottom 3 will be Brooke, jason and archuleta, with Brooke going home.

I actually completely agree with Simon - starting a song over is preferable to fumbling through and trying to find your place. Especially when the eff-up was so early in the song. Still, kind of inexcusable.

I agree it would be a shame to lose Jason to the theme. I would love him to get past the theme shows to choose his own and sing the judges' choices. If he got to do "Crazy" people would see what he can really do! Sayesha was great tonight--I would have put her in first. I'm not usually a big David A. fand, but I though he did a better interpretation of his song than David C. At this point, they are all good, but I think Brooke's ride may be over, and I think she knows it.

I hope Jason Castro goes home, but I actually loved Lloyd Webber night. It was refreshing to see the contestants take on some unexpected tunes for a change. Syesha and Carly even seemed to have fun, which AI has been sorely lacking lately.

Can they send two idols home in the same week? Both Brooke and Jason should be sent running. Jason sang as if he had been scratched badly and now he should be scratched from AI. Brooke, well she had done poorly since Let it Be. Syesha was wonderful this week....amazing. Now it is time to bring back both Micheal J. and Kristy Lee and remove Jason and Brooke. What weak performances overall, except Syesha.

I'd have to agree, that Brooke having to restart a song for the second time in the season will definately not help her at all...I would hate to see Jason have to go beause of 1 song choice but he did not do well with this type of music, David Cook did awesome again, showing like some of you have pointed out and the judges also, that he can sing any genre of music if given the task. I have to agree, that Carly did shout through most of her song, but she did have a blast with it, only reason I'm saying this is because Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my all time favorite Rock Opera's....I think my biggest surprise tonight was Syesha, she hasnt been my favorite at all this year, she was great tonight, she truly was a performer all the way....but my heart is with David Cook as you all already know that, that's not to say, if he messes up, I wont be the first one to say it....
