The American Idol top 6 will be singing songs from musicals tonight. The mentor is famed musical theater master Andrew Lloyd Webber. Or, SIr Andrew Lloyd Webber if you care about such titles. Now, I can fully admit that I'm not big into musicals. I'm sorry. I also don't think that this late into the season the American Idol finalists should be performing in a genre that has absolutely nothing to do with what they'll be recording in their future. Maybe FOX saw the success of High School Musical and decided to give musicals a shot. Whatever their reasons, I disagree with the decision and am thus very, very scared at what we'll be seeing tonight on American Idol. I'll be here throughout the episode giving my live thoughts as the episode rolls along. To read the rest, click here.

Meh. By this point I think the judges realize the power of their opinions and give negative critique for no reason. I'm not calling foul play but they are becoming more close-minded and making it extremely obvious who their favorites to win are.

Vote for your favorite tonight because only David is safe. You'll get hosed by the teeny set.

Oh, never mind. The "davids" are safe. Cook has the money slot.

Holy smokes! The last two performances have been insane! Carly was so perfect for that; I don't know if she is more confident with her self or what but she was amazing.

David Cook surprised me with his vocals tonight -- Simon doesn't like that side and I frankly don't blame him. I would love to see David Cook doing some music-cross between The Shins and The Strokes, but he still blew me out of the water with his vocals. Oscar -- Sorry, I have to agree with the judges on Jason. It was "not good" (tm). Brooke got way too much patting on the back for arfing her song up. Come on, we've seen how Simon treats people who forget their words -- I'm surprised he gave as much support as he did. Syesha (I hate her) actually did a good Diva-esque performance (I hated it), I can see her making it like that. Carly pulled a nice one out with Jesus Christ Superstar Most everyone did good tonight, bravo for an enjoyable evening.

Wow, surprising song choices. I thought for sure that David Cook would go for the rocking Jesus Christ Superstar and Syesha would go for Memory. With only a few episodes left, they're finally doing something unpredictable.
