| The American Idol Top 6 is being judged unfairly. The beginning of the season featured constant and unrelenting claims of “best Top 24 of all-time.” Whether this was true or untrue is arguable and unknowable, but let's not kid ourselves – this top 6 we have right now on American Idol is formidable. All remaining singers are commercially viable and reasonably talented. That's a subjective take, yes, but I can see where all six of the finalists could succeed in the music world. With Kristy Lee Cook's departure, the last so-so talent was purged from the American Idol competition. Despite the fact that all pundits (including every Idol watcher at BuddyTV) believes David Archuleta will win the competition, this does not effect either way the other five's future prospects as individual artists. Therefore, it makes sense that we should take a little gander at what kind of artists these final six might become in their frightening post-Idol careers. To read the rest, click here. |

| I agree with pretty much all of this, though I think the future may be bleakest for Brooke White and Jason Castro. Though I love singer/songwriters like Fiona Apple, they're more known now days for their critical respect instead of their commercial potential. And the world really doesn't need another Jack Johnson, I hope. Archuleta will definitely have troubles if he can't sing anything peppy, but I have a feeling he could do it in the studio, if not live. |

| I think that in the last two weeks, American Idol has gotten rid of two singers who seemed to have found themselves as marketable artists, and because of that, they will have success in the music industry.

| I guess it all depends on your view of "success." Jason Castro will not have any post-Idol career. Nor will Syesha. Carly will probably put out another album that will sell marginally better than her first, but will still be a failure. Archuleta will be the toast of the town for the summer, then shrivel into obscurity. David Cook will, as Oscar says, be another Daughtry. I think Brooke White will be a pseudo-star, but as Don says, it will be mostly critical. I think she can put out an album that will get strong reviews and maybe even score a Grammy nom, though not many people will be excited. |

| I think we'll see the most success attained by David Cook and Michael Johns this season. Both seem like all-around great performers and they strike me as the two with the most potential. David's fans will probably take him far, and Michael's early elimination will keep him free from the clutches of Idol, and that'll be good for him and his future album.

| Given that Cook's Analog Heart is #1 on Amazon (and he is the #1 artist for mp3 downloads) AND Always Be My Baby would easily be number 1 on itunes, if we were allowed to see the rankings I'd say that Cook is already a huge commercial success. Given the quality of Analog Heart, I have no doubt that he can produce another phenomenal album that will sell very well. |

| I think only David Cook, Kristy Lee Cook, and possibly Jason Castro have any real chance for post-Idol stardom. David is another Chris Daughtry, though I don't think he is quite as talented. Kristy Lee will make a modest name for herself in country music, a la Kellie Pickler. Jason's success would also be modest if he can develop into a folk songwriter/singer. Syesha would probably do well in commercials, as a background singer, or as an extra on Broadway. I don't see a chance for any of the others at all. |

| I think David Cook hands down, but is he my favorite in the competition? No. I really like Brooke and Jason, they're my favorites. Brooke could follow the steps of Sara Bareilles and Jason, as said up there, Jack Johnson's. |
