I think it sounds interesting, though I'm afraid it'll just lead to an hour of boring ballads for like the eighth week in a row. But I like it when the contestants are thrown outside of their comfort zone. Seeing what people like David Cook and Jason Castro do with showtunes has serious train wreck potential, and we're in desperate need of some sort of entertainment from this show.

You're right randomx, I can totally see Jason Castro strumming along to that song. He's so predictable.

Jeffofhearts "That being said... Brooke should be fine doing her thing to "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar. Other recommendations or song choice predictions.... Carly/McCavity from Cats, Syesha/Memories from Cats, DavidA/Close Every Door from Joseph...Dreamcoat, Jason/Surrender from Sunset Boulevard, DavidC/Phantom of the Opera from it's namesake"

Almost verbatim of what I thought. Especially Macavity for Carly and Close every Door for DArch. I think Syesha will do Memories, I am a little afraid of her ego and she may try "Think of Me" from Phantom.

I think David C could do something really haunting with "Music of the Night". And Castro might be able to do something (like he does) with "Any Dream will Do" from Dreamcoat.

I don't think it's the theme weeks that are bad -- it's these incredibly narrow theme weeks. Of course everyone will sound the same if they're all forced to sing Andrew Lloyd Weber songs instead of having all of Broadway to choose from. Same when they have to sing Mariah Carrey songs instead of Songs of the 21st Century like they were originally going to do. The narrow themes based around one person killed my enjoyment last year, and is doing it again this year. I wish they'd stop it already -- especially with someone like Mariah, who conveniently comes on the show the day her new CD is released, it smacks of promotion instead of a theme intended to show the contestants' ranges.

Don't forget that Dolly Parton conveniently had a new CD out too. What was it called? Kentucky Fried Barbie or whatever? It's obvious most of these people come on just to sell a few extra albums.

Webber week what fun, I just hope the contestants choose better songs than they did for the Lennon McCartney weeks. All the song recommendations above are good; agree Brooke - I Don't Know How to Love Him (JCSS) and David A - Close Every Door (JATATD). But I think Jason could do - Any Dream Will Do (JATATD) and I'd love David C. to do the song Meat Loaf originated A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste from Whistle Down the Wind and Our Kind of Love from The Beautiful Game is a great song perfect for Syesha. The group would be smart to stay away from well-known or covered songs though, singers from the Webber stable play in a different league entirely.

Whoops missed my pick for Carly - I Hate Everything About You from Evita. Not an editorial comment just a song choice, fun for the band too.
