American Idol has been difficult to figure out.  So, given this, I've come to the conclusion, just a few minutes ago, that American Idol is literally impossible to figure out.  It's completely random and does not adhere to any patterns.  It all hinges on the ever-changing whim of the voters who, like all people, can not be understood no matter how hard one might try.  Tonight's American Idol was no different from previous weeks.  The eliminated contestant wasn't the one most of us expected, though it was a singer that we all expected to be gone weeks ago.  The bottom three held one major surprise (at least to me), and both Mariah Carey and Elliott Yamin performed on the Idol stage.

I didn't think on Tuesday that Brooke be in the Bottom 3. The way I rated Tuesdays performances I had the bottom 3 as Kristy, Syesha and David Archuleta. But knew Lil David wouldn't be in the bottom 3. So I thought Carly would but she be safe. So last night we had the boring right side stage left side stage thing. Come on Ryan thats so old can we just skip that by now. So the bottom 3 was Syesha (no surprise), Brooke (not shocked but thought she shouldnt be there this week) and Kristy (who should of been gone during first few weeks of Top 12). I thought based on last 3 weeks Syesha should of went home last night. Actually if I'm being honest she should of went home last week instead of Michael Johns. Kristy has given us two decent performance last 2 weeks. So I thought this week and last she should of been in bottom 3 but safe. But at same time I am glad she is gone. It was overdue. I think Syesha will go next week most likely. The bottom 3 next week will probably be Syesha, Carly and

... and Jason or perhaps Brooke again. I though the theme this week was stupid and Mariah's performance last night was boring and I wasn't digging the song. Seeing Elliot on the show was a nice surprise. I loved his performance but thought first 20 seconds of it was a lil shaky. So sad his mom passed away recently she was awesome. Loved seeing her on the show back during season 5. Next week we have another mentor and sounds like a boring theme. But will see. Gosh I missed Michael last night esp. during the group performance and Ford Music Video. Idol 7 just isn't the same without him.

It seems that to get sent home, you need to do a decent performance. Bad performances - see Carly and Brooke - don't get you booted. More likely - the performances are totally irrelevant.

For a breif moment I had hope that I wouldn't hear any more of the vocal stylings of Brooke White, alas no.

I think the reason KLC was sent home last night was because her fan base (which should have been able to keep around another week or two) was not watching.

Seriously how many "country fans" are going to watch Mariah night? When they found out it was Mariah songs, they probably switched to something else.

With beauty, dignity, and grace, last night a true star left American Idol. Kristy Lee was one of the real stars on American Idol season 7. And I believe that she will have a successful recording career and her fans will have the opportunity to see and hear her again. At this level, each singer is talented and skilled; however, some have more market potential than others. Kristy Lee has great market potential in the world of fashion, media and recording. I wish her the best of luck. She was one of my favorite on season 7 of American Idol.

Those vote results are indicative of the high level of emotion vs. logic that follows competitors around in American Idol, and even on this site. I guess "success" may be subjective, but I doubt it -- Pickler has had success, and I'm quite sure KLC will do just as well. Anybody who disagrees doesn't quite understand the music industry

People with great talent can bomb amazingly, look at previous American Idol winners and runners-up that haven't gone anywhere. Hold on, let me find my Fantasia mp3's... oh right, don't have any..

2 weeks - 2 wrong choices. Lloyd Webber week promises to be a snooze fest. Loved KLC singing to Simon. Loved r2d2 totally frying his circuts to the extent that he simply did not understand Ryan saying go to David Cook h is safe. Is the boy an idiot savant? Loved Brooke getting all up in Simon's face over picking on Kristy. Loved the cheap secretary outfit on Carly w/ the great tat in full bloom.

OK, Andrew Lloyd Webber is a giant in musical theater, but why put him on AI? The judges always trash performances they say sound like musical theater, and I have a hard time imagining many of these contestants connecting to his songs, or doing them well--they are VERY theatric. D.Cook might be able to pull off something from Jesus Christ Superstar since it's more rock-ish than most of them, and the girls will be vying for a shot at "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from the same show. Maybe David Arculeta will sing "Memory" from Cats and get eliminated!(ha). I can't imagine what Jason could do with this theme though he's my fave. Jason fans, VOTE!!!

As for the question about Kristy Lee's career--she will have fair to middling success, opening for better singers, doing state fairs and rodeos, and probably a lot of TV. Which is a lot further than most people ever get, so God bless her!
