Michael Johns received a shock elimination from American Idol last night.  This may not have been a bad thing for Michael.  The Chris Daughtry comparison has been thrown around regarding Michael (but more so for David Cook), and the fact that being eliminated at this point in the season will give him a lot of freedom when it comes time to make his first album.  Johns has more commercial potential than most of the American Idol singers this season, and is one of the very few singers whose album I might give a listen to.  This morning, Johns conducted a conference call interview with the press and discussed his elimination and his time on the show.

PLEASE WRITE THE PRODUCERS AT AMERICAN IDOL AND COMPLAIN! They DO read the emails, and the fans HAVE made a difference before

Ryan Seacrest is CRUEL! What he did last night to Michael Johns totally crossed the line. There is no excuse for his behavior and he owes Michael Johns a public apology. They also should bring back the Wildcard setup in this case. Let him come back one night to sing, and if he doesn't get the top scores the next time, he'll be permanently eliminated.

I agree that Ryan owes Michael a public apology. I think America got it right though. I was never all the impressed with MIchael. He had pitch problems and he strained horribly to hit the high notes. I won't be buying his CD.

Ryan didn't say that on his own. He reads off cue cards so I don't get why everyone is putting the blame on Ryan. He was just doing his job.

I think Michael Johns is a very talented and entertaining artist. I would definitely buy his CD! I think anyone that gets eliminated will still have many, many options for their career!

I must have missed that comment because I was in shock that he got eliminated in the first place, I really did think it was going to be him, I truly believed it was going to be one of the girls. I think he will go far in his music though, so he doesnt have much to worry about. I would/will definately buy his CD when it comes out also. I guess this just goes to show what they say always, dont think your favorite is safe when your voting, keep voting for your favorite because, if you forget to vote, they may lose, every vote counts!!!!!

Ryan apologized to him after the show and, c'mon, it's TV. This is what happens on TV.
