I applaud American Idol for what they did last night.  Every one of the Top 8 singers were told to choose an “inspirational” song.  What this basically meant is that they were allowed to sing any song that was available.  What' someone finds inspirational is completely subjective.  American Idol, last night, was therefore a free-for-all.  Each singer picked their favorite song from the available list and gave a very telling performance.  A couple singers are completely in tune with who they are as artists (Jason Castro, Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook).  Others aren't.  What the episode didn't leave us with was a clear idea about who will be eliminated come Thursday.  Fellow BuddyTV writer John Kubicek and I have our ideas and we discuss them below in a special audio mp3 recording.

Looks like the best voices Ramille and Carly are going home...who said the best voice wins AI....Melinda Doolittle would have won and Hicks and Fantasias annoying voices would have gone to the ____ oh well....

You sound pretty sick Oscar. Maybe you need some Throat Coat tea and a warm blanket. Maybe even a double dose of Nyquil.

I hope we don't see Michael or David in the bottom three. Although, the voting pattern argument is valid one. I think we'll see Carly and Syesha in the bottom three for sure, but it's tricky guessing who the third addition will be. It may be Brooke, but it may also be David Cook. I don't think Michael's performance was too bad, and I think that because there were others who didn't do so great, he can escape the bottom three this week-it'll be tough though.

I think Oscar is correct. I'm sick of Syesha choosing gigantic songs that are already associated with superstars. I'm glad you guys thought David Cook and Michael Johns were bad. I thought Brooke White was as well. Boooooo...

My choice would be for Michael to go home, but that will never happen. My last choice would be Carly because I think she's extremely talented. I'm thinking it might be Syesha.

Based on most subjective performance rankings AND on dialidol, Carly and Seyesha are a given for the bottom two. I can not understand how both of them were not included on John and Oscar's lists. The 3rd person in the bottom three is much more difficult to gauge. According to dialidol, the possibilites are Michael, Brooke and DCook. Looking at the geoprediciton page and counting the votes, I think it will be Michael as the 3rd one. I think this will be good for him in that it will force him to rethink his song choice next week and rally his supporters. It will definitely be Carly going home, and pending a miracle it will be Seyesha next week. I also disagreeI don't think Ramielle's votes will translate to anyone, as her supporters were unique in that they voted for her the Chicago way, Early and Often.

NO WAY David Cook will hit the bottom three if we are looking at talent. He is the only performer that has not FORGOTTEN words...sucked horrible, or been hard to listen to. So he did not rock the house like he has EVERY WEEK so far..his song was still easy to listen to and good. I cannot see last night as such a horrible show his voters would shift.

It won't be Brooke, David A. or Jason C. I can tell you that much. Not only was Brooke last this week, but she was also in the bottom three last week. Which means that her fans, including me, probably voted like crazy this week.
