That was bad. Simon Cowell said was everybody was thinking near the end of tonight's American Idol when he remarked that maybe doing The Beatles two weeks in a row wasn't such a good idea. It's not that there were a lot of poor song choices tonight, it's that the songs weren't utilized properly. The show and the contestants just appeared to run out of steam. If last week saw everyone performing hit singles, tonight everyone was singing B-sides. You won't find better songs in the world than Beatles songs, but they just aren't right for American Idol. After the top two or three performances tonight, the quality dropped off significantly. To read the rest, click here.

Oh Oscar, I simply cannot wait for tomorrow to explain to you the ways in which you are so wrong about Michael Johns. That was, hands down, the worst performance of the night. I might even put it on par with Archuleta screwing up the words last week, just dreadful. Of course, I can't talk, because Brooke was actually my favorite performance. Something about that woman makes me smile inside. It was such a light, silly, airy performance, a great change of pace from last week's somber yet brilliant song.

Thanks god for TheEditor i agree with him on the Michael part but not about the Brooke part. I have to say, as bad as Kristy did I believe she shouldnt be ranked last. Amanda hides a lot behind her shouting/singing. You cant blame someone just because they change up a song, I would have no idea what to sing if I had to sing a Beatles song. I know that they were probably in the top 3 greatest things that have ever happened to music, but they arnt in my music library, sorry so I wouldnt blame someone to change somthing to make it seem more apealling to them. Just imagine if you had to sing lets say a Britney song, I'm sure you wouldnt want to go out there and sing it the bubble gum pop way, so murder in your eyes is somthing different to someone else

Oh and dont worry I'm not one of those power voters who is going to sit there and hit redial 1000 times right after the show, if it were up to me I would give total control to the judges

Here's my problem with Amanda: maybe I just have bad ears, but I honestly could not tell the difference between last week (which the judges praised) and this week (which they didn't like). She always sings the same dang way: loud and shouting.

Well, my response to that is The Beatles are the best and most important thing to ever happen to music, and it'd be safe for the AI singers to assume that the way the Beatles sang a song is probably the best way for that song to be sung. The same cannot be said, as per your example, Britney.

Oscar i disagree and agree with you once again. I guess there is no point trying to get through to you since you are such a big Beatles fan you are. I guess i wouldnt like it either if someone tried to make a rock version of a Nelly Furtado song. I couldnt care what you say but all i know since everyone just did well ...terrible except the person who is the least popular (syesha) so it is up in the air tomorrow, I see Eze going home tomorrow

the Beatles aren't right for AI because none of these people can sing worth a damn! Enough with the themes..just let them Twist and Shout their way thru bad Whitney covers already. Loved the Eva Cassidy reference by Simon...listen to some of her stuff and see if you still think Brooke is so great.

I agree with TheEditor about Michael Johns. There were many mediocre performances last night, but he was the worst. His voice was pitchy and I think at one point he forgot the words, which were all out of sequence anyway. He really deserves to be in the bottom 3 after that. Amanda should join him. She is so up and down that I never know what to expect, but last night was a down night - her voice was terrible. The other bottom 3 spot could easily go to KLC, Chikezie, Ramiele, Syesha, Brooke, or Jason. All were subpar. I hope it is Ramiele. She will be a great backup singer or TV commercial singer someday, but never a star. The only really good performances were David Cook and Carly. Archuleta sang well but was boring IMO.
