The Beatles are, pretty much, my favorite thing ever. As a cultural entity, there has been nothing I have enjoyed more than the music of The Beatles (In fact, if I had to name my Top 5 Cultural Entities Ever, they'd probably be 1) The Beatles 2) The 1996 Seattle Supersonics 3) Bill Murray 4) Tom Robbins 5) The 1995 Seattle Mariners). This being the case, I was a little horrified when American Idol announced that they would be doing Beatles Week for the Top 12. It could either be an absolutely appalling couple hours of television or one of the best American Idol episodes ever. As always, it will come down to song choice. So, as we've begun doing here at BuddyTV, we're going to choose the ideal song choices for each of the Top 12 contestants on American Idol's Beatles Week. To read the rest, click here.

Love your picks for Jason and Michael. This Beatles week should be VERY intreresting. There's nothing like hearing some of the greatest songs of all time butchered by a group of mediocre singers. A few will wow us I'm sure but really ... David Hernandez has no business singing anything The Beatles ever wrote.

Agree about Hernandez, but not because he's bad. It just doesn't fit. I thought about Amanda singing Helter Skelter, but then I listened to it again and there's no way she can sing that song. Very hard to sing.

Hey I think you missed 2 great Beatles' songs in HELP! and ELEANOR RIGBY, particularly the Australia versions of those song. HELP! in the style of Aussie John Farnham (and copied and recorded by Tina Turner) would be ideal for CARLYSMITHSON to showcase her range. Another song ideal for CARLY is OH DARLING! ELEANOR RIGBY in the style of Aussie Band THE ZOOT (of which Rick Springfield was lead guitarist before he went solo) would be ideal for MICHAEL JOHNS.

I thought about Eleanor, but didn't think it translate well into a live performance. Oh Darling was actually my backup pick for Johns...not sure if he has the screaming ability that McCartney had.

Hey, really in retrospect weren't the Beatles just a "group of mediocre singers" ?The songs were great! I'm not so sure this group will butcher their songs any more than they have everything else. I'm waiting for this group of the best talent ever that they keep talking about to show up. Good picks.

If you think The Beatles were a group of mediocre singers, listen to the harmony on Because, Yes It Is and This Boy. Add to that that John Lennon is one of the best rock vocalists of all time. Incredible singer!

For Amanda I'm thinking With A Little Help from My Friends a la Joe !@#!@er. Or maybe I Want You (She's So Heavy). BR>This week scares me because I'm a huge Beatles fan and don't want any of their songs ruined for life. Like, for example, having Sanjaya's catastrophic version of the Kinks You Really Got Me burned into my brain.
