It was a tad bit anti-climactic tonight on American idol.  The Top 12 is now set, and it's a top-heavy group.  There are six singers who I can say, with the utmost confidence, will be in the top 8.  There's a group of three or four who will most likely be eliminated over the next month, and because of this, I expect the rest of American Idol's March to be rather plodding.  Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis showed up tonight to show the contestants that, even if they don't have the greatest singing voice, creativity, personality and a great stage presence can take you a long ways.

Yeah, I guess Danny was a victim of his own fabulousness. It's a shame wastrels like Hernandez and Chikezie get to stay because they have as much chance of winning this whole thing as I do. Oh well, so long as David Cook, Jason Castro and Brooke White all stay around, at least there will be three things to look forward to every week.

I'm with you those three. I'd add Michael Johns to that list, however. I suspect that Johns is being very calculating. He knows that you shouldn't peak early. Like that old Milton Berle anecdote, Johns has pulled out just enough so far. Noreiga would've made the top 12 much more fun and, yeah, Chikezie and Hernandez have a snowball's chance in hell.

Got to agree about the homophobia point. Also Simon was very calculated in scorching Danny this week before his Sanjaya momentum really got going. The thing is Danny was an entertainer unlike most of the guys (and all the girls but Carly and Brooke). Unless Kristy has a complete meltdown I think EZE is gone next week - bad Quiet Storm only goes so far.

She has a natural rasp that, if put to use on silkier, bluesier songs, would produce great results.
Absolutely correct. She's not the first person sunk by ego though.

If homophobia was the issue, wouldn't Hernandez be gone? Noriega is gone because a lot of people, like me, found him obnoxious. Kady and Menard were rightly expected to go.

I'm glad Chikesie made it through; I thought the criticism of him was too harsh. He's not going to win it, but his singing is usually technically pretty good. As I've opined before, he's the only guy so far this season who can hold a note and stay on pitch.

In predicting 3 of 4 this week, I missed - with 20/20 hindsight - the easiest pick, Kady (I thought KL Cook). I guess her looks weren't enough.

Couldn't you hear Asia'h doing Don't Misunderstand?

I know she's sworn off Joplin, but I'd like to hear Amanda do Little Girl Blue.

My top 6 guys all made it! I had to jump off the sofa and dance when Danny was eliminated. I rank them in this order: David Cook, Jason, David Archuleta, David Hernandez, Chikezie, Michael Johns. David or Chikezie will probably be the first guys to go.
My only disappointment last night was with the women. I wish Asiah had made it instead of Ramiele or Amanda. My rankings for the women: Carly, Brooke, Syesha, Kristy Lee, Ramiele, Amanda. I predict Ramiele will be eliminated sooner than people expect. She is has no stage presence or originality.

I agree 100%. I expect her exit in the next 3.

I wish crazynick would stop using this blog to promote interracial dating web sites. I find it offensive, and irrelevant to American Idol.
