This season, American Idol really is all about the guys. Jason Castro and David Cook are easily my two favorite performers and singers in the whole competition. Danny Noriega is by far the most entertaining. And David Archuleta is the odds-on favorite to win the whole thing. The women are going to have to do some serious work to crack any of those categories.Tonight, for the last time on this stage, we’ll see the Top 8 American Idol women sing songs from the 1980s, and after tomorrow’s eliminations, it’s on to the Top 12, on to a bigger, better stage, and on to The Beatles. Who will join Kady Malloy as one of the next women to go home? Oops, sorry, I meant to put a spoiler warning on that. To read the rest, click here.

I want to like Amanda, but there's something about her that just bothers me...and I don't quite get why the judges love her so much...which is wierd, 'cause I generally enjoy the "rocker/bluesy singer" thing. Although I do have to say, this really is the most talented cast I've seen in a while.

Love love LOVE Carly, but I agree with Simon- She's better than that song. BUT, I do think she'll go far.

Yeah, Carly is someone who will always be good, but it will take the right song and arrangement for her to be great.

I really hope that Kady pulled it through enough to make it to the Top 12. I honestly think that she has the most potential as a "relevant" (to use Simon\\\\'s word) artist out of all of the contestants. Her versatility is amazing, I just think she needs to find herself. I hope America keeps her in until she can do so and then wow us.

Ok...Brooke...love the voice, but hated the arrangement of the song. Maybe I'm biased because I loved the original version? And what is the deal with Randy and Paula constantly mentioning who they've worked with this season??

Right now I cant help but think that Asiah, Kady, and Kristy are going to be the ones that are on the line of going home. And Kristy is too likable. Its really strange this year. The girls are all pretty equal, as are the guys but it just seems for the most part that the guys are in a different league. Much better than last year where the girls seemed better.

See, cool as the original is, this competition isn't about being a cover artist. Brooke did her own thing, a la David Cook, and that kind of originality shows immense promise as an artist.
