What are we to make of these American Idol men (and one boy)?  Touted as one half of the most talented batch of semi-finalists ever, they have been both a massive disappointment and a sight to behold.  It all depends on who you ask.  Expectations create bizarre judgments.  Any way you slice it, this year's Top 24 has been exponentially better than last year's.  Are they the best ever?  Probably not, but I'm inclined to agree with FOX's claim that they are the most talented ever.  However, a number of the singers have yet to live up to their massive potential.  I would argue that, given their abilities, three of the top 8 men have been severely underwhelming (they would be Michael Johns, Danny Noriega, and Luke Menard (who I still maintain can be good given the right song)).  Two have exceeded any reasonable expectations (David Archuleta and Chikezie Eze) and the other three have done about as well as we can expect, which happens to be quite good (David Hernandez, Jason Castro and David Cook).  What does this have to with who's going home tomorrow?  I believe that the voting public has a keen sense of potential, whether they realize it or not.

This is a weird time. Clearly Archuleta is safe. Castro and Cook both deserve it. Johns has a lot of skill. Noriega is the most entertaining. All five should make the Top 12, so that leaves the other three, and honestly, I don't care who of them leaves, but part of me wants Menar to stay...Hernandez and Chikezie have both shown us their best, but neither has a shot at winning. Luke could still pull out a really good performance.

But Luke Menard really lacks any genuine stage presence. He is a choir boy. I agree that he may be able to pull out a great performance -- maybe, as someone here suggested -- in A Capella -- but remember Bo Bice? He sang In A Dream A Capella and it was quite a moment. Do you really think Luke can match that? Anything he does will be compared to that performance and I'm just not sure he has the ability -- not vocally -- he has that -- sometimes -- but he has very little charisma.

While I agree with TheEditor's assessment, I think Menard and Noriega depart. The latter because he shares a voter base with Archuleta who is safe for a while. I may revise this after considering the VFTW factor. Johns has been unimpressive, competent but forgettable. Hernandez might go because of the whole gay-stripper thang, I dunno (and don't care).

I think you're the clueless one for calling someone "!@#!@go" and "qweer." I don't think there's any way Noriega goes home.

Danny Noriega is nauseating. I don't care about his sexual preference. He's just an idiot and I can't stand to look at him or hear him sing. ENOUGH!!

I have to agree with the fact that Luke is probably gonna go home. ANd unfortunately Chikeezee....shame it will be the guy with such a talent. It might be Danny but Im a bit scared he might turn into this season Sanjaya...when we were all predicting that he is going home but he always somehow made it thru the next round....lets see...

I think they should just send all girls home this week. I think its a guys year this season. However...tonight I think Chikezie will go...not because he isn't good. I just don't think he is what people are looking for this year. It seems that this year is holding more for the rock crowd. The other...maybe Hernandez (b/c of the drama with his past) or Luke...his voice just rubs me the wrong way.....eeeesh!
