I've never met a male stripper.  As far as I know, I've never known anyone who has known a male stripper.  I've never seen a male strip club establishment.  The only ones I know exist are in Vegas, where Chippendale's and Thunder Down Under entertain middle-aged female tourists.  So, it was with great shock that I read the news about American Idol's David Hernandez past as a male stripper.  It was revealed today that Hernandez was formerly employed at Dick's Cabaret in Glendale, Arizona where he gave nude lap dances for a mostly all-male crowd.  American Idol has not yet commented on this news, though I suspect we'll hear something from FOX in the coming days.  As for now, all we can do is speculate on what this news might mean for David Hernandez's future on American Idol

I love a good scandal. Based on the history of the Internet and reality shows, he had to know this would get out, and so the Idol producers had to know, right? When you're on a high profile TV show like this, there are no secrets.

Kicking off Frenchie was a mistake. They shouldn't kick him off just for consistency.

It would seem rather dumb to kick him off for this, but the Idol producers have proven to be prudish in the past.

Thats something pretty big so I am sure he had to have told producers about it. I am sure he wasn't dumb enough to let something like that linger to come bite him in the @s$. I don't really care if he stays or goes. He isn't one of my favorites. On another note: Tonights song list looks pretty good!

I don't see what the big deal is. Obviously, being a stripper isn't the career most people would choose but whatever. Like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton have been good role models. As if being a good role model translates into record sales. Taylor Hicks is a good role model. Kat McPhee is a good role model. Ruben Studdard is a good role model. See how far it got them. David isn't going to win this thing so it's stupid to kick him off. He'll go on his own merit in the next few weeks.

VFTW has had this story for days. My attitude is "who cares?", but they (VFTW) have pix of him serving at a gay bar on their site. Shirtless, but not sans pants.

The question is this: Doesn't Idol have to kick David off the show after they kicked Frenchie off? I don't think it's a big deal either, but FOX has to be consistent.

Somehow, the argument would be made that he didn't sell photos of himself, which is a bit like !@#!@graphy. Being an exotic dancer is...somehow different? Yeah,`I get your point Oscar, because the Frenchie situation wasn't really about any serious rule infractions so much as it was about Idol producers policing morality. While stripping isn't a big deal, the hypocrisy of Idol for not booting him is the real story, as Oscar points out,
