This David Archuleta thing was bound to get out of control.  I got a call from my father last week and he couldn't stop gushing about that Archuleta kid – this is when I knew we'd be in trouble.  If last night's American Idol Top 10 Guys performance show was any indication, the powers-that-be at FOX and 19 Entertainment may just steamroll Archuleta all the way into the finals.  How?  Just look at last night, when Archuleta was handed the keys to one of the five best songs of all-time (John Lennon's “Imagine&rdquo, given the prime last-performance-of-the-night slot, and then roundly congratulated by all the judges, culminating with Simon Cowell saying that David was far and away the favorite to win American Idol.  No, they aren't propping Archuleta up at all, are they?  Enough about that (oh, and don't worry...I'll be discussing this all week) – let's get to the issue at hand: which two men will be ceremoniously executed by Ryan Seacrest on national television this Thursday?

Glad to see we're almost in perfect agreemenet about our rankings (as opposed to last week). Much as I've campaigned against him, I kinda want Luke to stay now. Like you said, he should get credit just for degree of difficulty. I think he still has a great performance in him, but Carrico doesn't.

It is really, really risky to take on a Queen song, and Luke Menard did not do it justice. I vote to oust him and the unbearably cheesy Jason Yeager.

I predict Carrico along with Yeager. "Hot Blooded" was killed in cold blood.

I was about to take issue with your rating Michael Johns' "Go Your Own Way" at #5, but 5 - 10 for me were all bad, so it's a question of degree, not badness.

I don't think that "All Right Now" is very difficult to sing, but it was a safe choice to see him, Cook, thru to next week.

This year's guys are almost as weak as last year's, maybe a little better because of Archuleta and Cook (as opposed to Sligh and Lewis).

Danny is at least entertaining. Carrico is just pathetic and I stick by the nickname Luke Warm Menard. And I am hoping beyond hope that Jason Yucky Yeager goes home tonight. Oh sooooo icky! I think I agree with you Mr TheEditor (back to an earlier post) about Amanda Overmyer -- but I will save anymore wonderings until after tonight -- I wonder what song she will choose? And I dearly hope there are no repeat songs like last week. Seriously?! Repeats!? There have to be plenty of songs in the catalog of approved music to choose from. Give me a good show! I'm drowning in mediocrity here!

Much as I think Carrico and LukeWarm (love the nickname, though ironically, I am warming up to him) deserve to go home, I get this feeling that Chikezie is gone in an upset. The problem with Idol is that week 1 is so important because it's when you get your solid fanbase. A large percentage of people found their horse week 1 and stick with him until he's gone, I assume. Also, Colton and Garrett went home, who will their voters go to? Certainly not Eze. Last week's was so bad, I don't think nthe greatness of this week will keep him, and he'll be shockingly eliminated.

I hope your wrong. I don't if I've ever seen anyone on Idol with a bigger week to week turn around than Chikezie. He was legitimately good last night.

week 1 is so important

All the more reason a contestant should pick their own song in week 1 and not be subject to a stupid theme. The song choice would then give a good indication of the performer's style.
