| Last week on American Idol, there were a whole lot of bad male performances, so many I could only narrow down my list of potential losers to five. This week, the men almost all stepped it up. Many of last week's worst are now at the top of my list. It's much harder this week to predict who the second person going home on the American Idol results show will be (since we all know Jason Yeager is a lock to be voted out).Anyway, here are my instant, visceral reactions to the Top 10 male performances. This isn't a list of who I think will win it all or even who will be eliminated. It's a list of my favorite performances. And this week, it's very good to be named David. | I kind of agree with Simon that David Cook needs a charisma injection. I thought he was pretty forgettable, though it may have just been the song. |

somthing about Idol isnt doing it for me this year. They keep saying the best talent yet, but to me the "talent" well is dry. I think this is the worst season yet, but im just saying that now

John, I think I'm a fan of Noriega now. He's suddenly one of the more likable contestants and the only one who seems completely free of awkwardness in the live on-set interviews. Too bad he went up against a gaggle of very good performances tonight.

I thought Michael and Archuleta were in a complete other league. These guys will tee it of to the end. Castro revealed his true boring colours with exact copy performance from previous week. Cook tried a gimmick, and other contestant just weren't good enough.

I thought the first 5 performances were awful, then 4 of the next 5 - minus Yeager - were pretty good. The only performance I thought was a home run was Chikesie - wow that's a turnaround! He swung that Hathaway song effortlessly and convincingly. Cook rocks more authetically than Carrico, who may have performed his last. "All Right Now" has no vocal range though and didn't show much. "Papa..Rolling Stone" was OK, as was Archuleta's "Imagine" though he came very close to yodeling too much. Michael Johns' song was remarkably cringe-worthy, as were the rest. I thought Carrico was the worst.

yeah this season just sucks so far. I have no favorite guys. Except for the boy, David, which I almost feel bad, because he is so young, maybe if I was a young girl, I would go crazy. But NOT!!! The singers seem like they have no personality, and they all belong in a choir.

Does anyone else besides me think Luke sucked. He was soooo bad. It was almost unbearable to watch. I think the guys aren't that great this year. My favorite last night was Chikeze cause i didn't see it coming but I still like Jason C. the best I think he's original. Jason Y. is out definetly but the one person in this competition I cant stand beside Jason Y. and Luke is David H. he looks sooo serious when he sings he has to loosen up. He looks like hes gonna pass out up on stage. He could be good. His voice is actually pretty awesome but I just don't like him.

Total Wuss Rocker -- hmmm -- that fits. Hoping for a better show tonight. What rocker category would you put Amanda Overmyer in?

From just the one performance, I'd say Overmyer is an avant garde, inaccessible rocker. Average people who like to rock can get into Cook, but Overmyer is way out there, the opposite extreme of Carrico. Cook is positioned nicely between the two as the rocker everyone can get behind.
