David Cook, American IdolVoting out American Idol’s red-headed stepchildren was a good start, but last week proved there’s a lot more empty filler on the men’s side this year that needs trimming. Tonight is the second opportunity for these Top 10 men on American Idol to sing for your votes, and judging by the photos released earlier today by FOX of the performers, we’re in for not one, but two guitarists! Will Paula Abdul see all the colors of the rainbow once again? Will Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest have undeniable sexual tension? Will Randy Jackson use the phrase “Pitchy Dawg” at some point?

THIS…is American Idol!

Is it just me or is the band way too loud?

Sorry Chikezie Eze, I Believe is totally Elliot Yamin's song. He rocked that on top three night in season five -- his version was much better, even though Chikezie's wasn't bad. I do wish the singers on this show would try not to sing songs that have become signatures of past contestants. Like imagine someone trying to sing Summertime -- everyone would automatically compare their version to Fantasia's, and unless you can blow that performance out of the water, it ain't happening!

Maybe I'm not as big a fan, but I don't remember Yamin. In my mind, I think Summertime is the only officially off-limits song. If someone asked you for the single most memorable Idol song, that's it.

Not that anyone would ever sing it again on this show, but I'd also say Stuff Like That There is off limits forever. No one could ever take you back in time like Kelly Clarkson did when singing that song. Sadly, they don't do Big Band nights anymore. I thought that theme was far more fun then, say, Gloria Estefan night . . . I just happen to be a big Elliott fan, which is why I remember his version so well. I also don't like that Chikezie dude, so I'm totally biased!

I love Michael Johns, but his song choice was completely wrong for his voice tonight. He didn't shine like last week. I thought David Cook was fantastic tonight. But mostly, Jason Castro may not have the best voice of the group, but boy is he adorable to watch.

Why is no one talking about David Archuleta? He rocked my world tonight! That kid is amazing. I've never wanted to download a song from ITunes more from one of the contestants. Everyone else was pretty disappointing tonight.

P.S. I didn't like Fantasia on the show and didn't like Summertime. Sue me.

As I said, I can't like Archuleta, just because of the shameless way the show wants us to think he's the best thing ever, which he isn't. The fact is that wasn't the best performance ever, and as good as it was, at least 60 percent of the credit, if not more, should go to the song itself.
