The ten remaining men on season 7 of American Idol range from extremely talented to “what the hell are they doing here?” My problem with the audition episodes is this: there's no excuse for American Idol to not show at least some of the auditions for each of the top 24. I know there are copyright issues for the initial auditions, but in Hollywood the contestants are all singing approved songs. I want to know what convinced the judges to put Jason Yeager, Garrett Haley and Luke Menard into the top 24. These rankings are not based on my preferences. I'm a realist – the list is who I think has the best chance to advance far in the American Idol competition this season. To read the rest, click here.

I really love what you said about Jason Castro. He's just right up my alley & I feel that I would buy an album of his music. I don't think the show is designed in a way that he will succeed, though. Your rankings are right on. Hey, we agree on something!

My only complaint is with Noriega. Obviously we will never see eye-to-eye on this kid, but the fact is that there will be more than enough fans to get him far, because he stands out. I think he's a lock for the Top 12, and will probably finish 4 or 5 on the guys' side. If the competition were about voting out your least favorite, he might be gone, as he surely has many haters. But he also has a lot of hardcore supporters. Aside from that one error, you're rankings are dead-on. Unfortunately, I think you're right about Hernandez being the new Phil Stacey, because both of them sucked and were boring as hell and will make it way too far for no discernible reason.

I'm not digging the Jason Castro vibe. I think I need to see him perform a less snore inducing song before I can decide if I like him or not. Top 2 are great though, and I still think David Hernandez has one of the best voices in the bunch. Maybe he'll liven up this week.

I guess we'll see on Noriega...I don't think he'll make the Top 12.

I'm thinking Danny Noriege and David Hernandez are going to flip places on your ranking, but otherwise it feels spot on as of last week. I think David Hernandez is so bland and Danny Noriega so over the top, that the one who is more noticeable will make it into the top 12. As for the top three on your list, I think as of NOW it's how the power lies, but I'm thinking later on that Michael Johns might get Tamyrad/Hudsoned/Daughtryd if he doesn't show much singing personality outside of growly rock. Daughtry screamed Creed at us for 12 weeks and ended up going home early; hopefully Johns will learn from what happened and not repeat history.
