| We've been doing these American Idol Rewinds for the past week, and now that we're to last year's sixth season, I realized that we actually have a little perspective on season 6 now. We can't really judge the alumni just yet (except for, sadly, Jordin Sparks), but we can grasp a little of what Idol 6's legacy will be. Unfortunately, things look bleak. In terms of the talent level for the finalists, American Idol 6 competes with American Idol 4 as the worst season yet. I know this is still speculation, but seeing that I wrote about 12 million words on last season, hear me out: Out of the top 12 finalists on season 6, I don't expect to ever hear much of anything from five of them (Brandon Rogers, Stephanie Edwards, Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato, and Phil Stacey), expect one to live on only in infamy (Sanjaya Malakar), see two with niche potential (Chris Sligh and Chris Richardson), think two will have solid Broadway careers (Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones) and believe Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks have mild star potential, though nothing like a Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson. | Phil stacey just released his first single to country radio, and it is amazing. The song is currently #80 on the country music charts, and it has only been out a week. Many stations haven't even received the song yet. We are going to see big things from Phil. He may just turn out to be the star of season 6 |

I don\'t know. Blake Lewis\'s CD is actually really good. There are better hits on there than Break Anotha, I just wish they would get played. How Many Words in particular is an excellent ballad that is uptempo and yet really fresh.

Whether what these guys produce is any good isn't really the point. It's whether they can find continued success in the murky waters of pop music. Blake does have the potential and, yeah, I guess if Phil reinvents himself in the Country world, he could surprise some people. Still, it's waaaay too early to make any sort of solid judgments.

It's way too soon to know what Blake Lewis' future holds, but his CD is really good and I can't wait for what he does next!

Phil hasn't reinvented himself. He knew before Idol that country was his genre, and his first single proves it. He will do well.

Phil is being greatly underestimated.I think his CD coming out in April is going to do very well. Phil is a very gifted singer and I believe is going to be more successful than most of the Season 6 contestants.

Phil is genuine and his fans will support him because of who he is. He does not need to reinvent himself. We already like who he is. His new song is awesome!!

You don't have to finish in first place in order to have a successful career in the music business. Chris Sligh is a multi-talented artist who has the potential to excel as a songwriter, performer, producer, actor and writer. He already turned down the role of Shrek on Broadway in order to pursue other avenues. His first single is due to drop to radio on Feb. 15th. His debut CD is due out on May 6th. Please keep an eye (ear) out for them. He has a very bright future ahead of him.
