A musical entitled “Idol: The Musical” is moving to an off-Broadway engagement on Manhattan's 45th street this July. The musical, about a group of teens who idolize former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken will begin a test run at the 45th Street Theatre on July 5th. The off-Broadway engagement will be produced by Todd Ellis and will be produced by Bill Boland. “Idol: The Musical”, which has a book by Boland and music written by Jon Balcourt, recently had a run of performances up in Syracuse, New York. The press notes for the musical describe it as such: To read the rest, click here.

Well, I think Clay Aiken is pretty darn famous. When he was on A. I. final show last year, everyone was talking about his hair and the surprise appearance. It was talked about for days on the news and entertainment shows.

Well obviously he's very famous if they created a musical around him. Second, just because someone is not on the radio 72 times a day doesn't mean they are not famous. And third, your an idiot.

Hey Oscar--Wake up and smell the Starbucks! Clay Aiken is a pop-culture phenomenon. I am not surprised he is the focus of a musical about American Idol since he is the most interesting and talented person to ever be a part of that show.

Evidently you are not keeping up with Clay these days. He's a Platinum-selling artist about to begin his 9th(I think) tour -- he has fans coming from Japan, Brazil, etc.; he is also a UNICEF Ambassador for Education for All Children just returning recently from Afghanistan, held a successful Benefit Gala for his co-founded Bubel-Aiken Foundation, and has recently been on the Kimmel show, etc. Research, my friend, research.

Talent is all that is needed to keep someone on the famous list and Clay Aiken has it in spades. Add the humanitarian commitment to that as well and you get to understand the quality of this star. Jealous much?

Clay Aiken is famous enough to have made over $25 million dollars touring. He's doing okay.

Radio only plays the crap they get payed to play. You don't hear anything good on radio. Paul McCartney has a new CD, you don't hear him or guys like Dave Matthews or a lot of great bands. Fergie and Justin are garbage. They can't even sing live. Clay has a huge fan base. They will go see the play. He's the best of them all and the playwriters know it.
