From very early in the season, Melinda's performance here showed exactly what she was capable of as a performer. Once on the... To read the rest, click here.

The only song from this show on my iPod is LaKisha's This Ain't A Love Song; she owned it! I liked And I'm Telling You a lot - and to a lesser degree God Bless The Child, but I think This Ain't A Love Song is the performance of the year. I like Melinda's My Funny Valentine a lot, but I can't get over the fact that I hate the song I'm A Woman. Ick! Sundance's Mustang Sally at least deserves an honorable mention and I liked a couple of Gina's, particularly Call Me When You're Sober and Smile.

C'mon, these are terrible choices. I barely remember any of them, and *none* of them really had any buzz after the fact. The author of this article is simply not being objective. There is no way that Blake Lewis's 'You Give Love a Bad Name' should come in anywhere but #1 on this list. Love it or hate it, this is the song that put Blake into the finals and cemented who he is as an artist (and will ensure he sells more albums than anyone else this season, similarly to Chris Daughtry last year). I am a die-hard bon jovi fan and not a fan at all of Blake's music scene. I did not want this song 'messed with'. Yet the peformance was so true to who Blake is, so completely brave as an artist, and so well performed that I became an instant fan of this young man (who I admit I liked before for his originality and his unwillingness to compromise). And the buzz that followed this performance and this song was massive - just do a google search under 'american idol bon jovi' and see.

Other performances that should have made the list would have to include Lakisha's 'This Ain't a Love Song', Jordin's 'Broken Wing', and just about any song from Melinda... actually I guess I'd pick the Tina Turner song because it was such a nothing song but she managed to turn it into a powerhouse performance. But the most brilliant performance (again love it or hate it) that will be remembered as a jaw-droppingly original, brave and brilliant moment belongs to Blake's 'You Give Love a Bad Name'

I can't believe 'A Broken Wing' done by Jordin was not on your top 5 list Oscar! Randy said he thought her performance was better than the original...I agree with him, no offense Martina!
