American Idol: Top 5 biggest disappointments

Every January, there is hope. Endless auditions provide a multitude of seemingly able singers, people who, under the right circumstances, could end up winning American Idol. Unfortunately, disappointment comes fast for the majority of the Idol contestants. More or less, this is what American Idol is about. The failure to live up to expectations vs. the ability to exceed them. Each contestant sets a bar for themselves when their initial audition airs. Sometimes that bar can be changed, but oftentimes it will create a precedent that the singer will never again live up to.

Since this box is for 5 dissapointments one of them is that Melinda has left I think that Blake should of left since no offense his singing is awful. Melinda is my home girl and she should of win. Now my vote is Jordan Sparks because for a 17 she is goooddd

Anyone else notice that AI does NOT have (nor did it ever have) it's vote verified by an independant third party? Me thinks the "audience chooses the winner" is a total scam, & America (yes YOU & I) fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Dudes, we've been punked!

Melinda was screwed. She was the best but then again Rubin won!! 2 hr show was too long/boring. Jordan was great too, but it shouldn't be a popularity contest, its a singing contest. I really thought Sanghia would win only because of his heritage. Simon is the only honest judge on the show. Ryan is getting to be very annoying.

Melinda was by far the best, but she was overexposed. She was excellent from the very beginning and kept showing us her enormous talent and perfect vocals all along, and, in a way, stopped surprising the public while some of the others - who started out as beginners, gained experience, confidence and had ample time to benefit from the whole thing by getting better and thus surprising the public. Contrast is very important in a long competition and Melinda couldn't provide that because she was steadily good, constantly excellent. Melinda functioned as a pace setter, the one who set the high standards to be achieved by the other contestants. They tried to perform as well as she managed to do from day one. Simon Cowell kept saying she was in another league, and this sort of separated her from the others, an "hors concours" type of position. Jordin's youth and looks, along with her father's popularity sure helped her in winning lots of votes. She is a good singer, and can become an excell

I was soooo very upset when Melinda got voted off!Angry too,in disbelief,you name it.I said I'd never watch this show again.But now I'm thinking that at least Melinda got all of this exposure because of American Idol,at least we know who she is now.And she will persevere no matter what.I think everyone knows she was the best one on the show,including Jordin.The best out of all 6 seasons.She's Simon's favorite too,he said so on Jay Leno.I'm such a huge fan
can't tell can you?I was going to wait & go to her own concert,but I can't wait,I'm going to see one of their American Idols Live concerts.
What a God given talent she has! I love you Melinda! I feel that she is such a good person too.
