It wasn't all that exciting, was it? Sure, both Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks performed admirably, but was there any sort of urgency on either of their parts? They both looked resigned to their fates: Blake to the second place finish he probably wants anyway, and Jordin to being the next Idol champion. Realistically, last night's performances weren't going to have a real effect on the voting. That die had been cast long ago. Jordin's people love Jordin and Blake's people love Blake. Allegiances were not going to be swapped. So, then, what were the ramifications of last night? We heard the songwriting contest winner's tune, and it was pretty bland. The song, however, is a perfect one for Jordin (weird) and so far from Blake's preferred genre that it's not even funny. Hopefully, we'll never have to hear Blake sing that song again. Since you can't really judge the two based on that song, we'll just be looking at the first two tunes when giving out the grades. To read the rest, click here.

If, as the judges said last night, this is a singing competition, then the actual winner went home last week.

I've thought all along that Jordin should be the next American Idol and we should witness that tonite.

Should Melinda fans get a special whiner's award on the show? Gawd! Oscar, I'm not sure we heard the same show; my grades: Blake: C+ Jordin: C Neither performer was exciting - or really even interesting. Jordin had a lot of pitch problems [for which she is never called out by the judges]. I thought her previous Broken Wing was better. Blake shouldn't have covered another Maroon 5 song - too similar. I do feel sorry for him though: for the show to assign a song that favors one finalist over the other is just unfair. As uninteresting as last night's show was, it won't touch tonight's!

Jordin beats Blake hands down if you talk about singing. But hey, people listen to singing to be entertained and Blake is just the man for that. And I would prefer to watch a Blake concert over Jordin's.

Jordin can sing, yes. But, without the entertainment value, it seems like it lacks something. Blake has such incredible stage presence...it's simply astounding.

I think Jordin has an amazing voice. She may have a pitch problem here or there but so does Blake. It's not like he sings every note perfect because he actually isn't a good singer. As for the final song they have been doing that every year. They have always made 2 contestants with different styles sing the same song. It's not like it was something new this year to make Blake look horrible.

Camera on Jordin's Mom. Bet she was pretty hot 20 years ago when she was a young white groupie chick going after rich Black NFL players. (You see that all the time around the league.) That's right, Idol freaks, call me a bigot--you were thinking the same thing. I wonder if she would have gone out with Jordin's Dad if he was cleaning out the johns at LAX. (You gotta find SOMETHING interesting to think about in that boring show.) What we really need is American Plumber, finding that one in 100,000 who can fix my toilet without messing up the whole house. Who needs another copycat singer putting out a CD of bad love songs we've heard a millions times already? "Ooooooo, I need your love, baby, gotta have your love." Go out and get some exercise, boob-tubers.

I have not seen the final. It's on Friday night in the UK. In all the shows and the semi final Melanie Doolitle was (is) by far the best singer. She'll demonstrate longevity when the winner has faded. It's about marketing so Jordin will walk away with it.
