Melinda DoolittleMelinda Doolittle's elimination is still sending shock waves among the American Idol's fan circles. Whether you agree with the result or not, you have to agree that Melinda was an incredible pure singer.  Melinda answered questions from the press this morning, and we were there to listen in and jot down the most important and interesting bits.  Here are the quick bullets points:

-Melinda thinks that, first off, Jordin and Blake were great performers, and that that is probably the main reason she voted off.  She admits that she may have received a lot of the older vote, people who, although passionate, weren't as vote-crazy as some of the younger voters.

Please check your spelling, it's "Melinda" NOT "MAlinda" as was written. And you call yourself a journalist. ha.

I thought the Melinda was the right choice for elimination. She has an amazing voice, but she just doesnt have that pop for American Idol. Love her, but just not suited. And she'll probably end up getting a record deal anyways, I mean it's happened many times before. I think they made the right choice. Everybody needs to just stop feeling butthurt.

Well, being that Jordin was planted into the competion by one of American Idols sponsors, I'm not surprised that they had to get rid of one her Jordin's biggest threats. The set-up is underway. I hope everyone votes against Jordin and it backfires in their face.

Mindy may not have had the "Pop" factor, but neither does Jordin. The only thing Jordin has that remotely relates to "Pop" is her age. Other than that, she is the MOST old fashioned one on the show. She sings darn near Opera songs, she wears ballgowns/prom dresses, she can't dance a lick, has no rythym and no soul. Where's the "Pop" factor in that??

The producers of AI are going to use Jordin to try and recoup some of the $$$ they lost with Taylor.

Hopefully, they won't pressure her to loose weight and become another Hollywood twig. Jordin (and Sanjaya for that matter) fits the demographic market that they want to reach (i.e. the tweener to the twenty something).

Would I pay $50 to hear Melinda sing at the (for example) 'House of Blues' - you bet. Would I pay $50 to hear Kiki sing at the (for example) 'House of Blues' - you bet. Would I pay $50 to hear Blake sing at the (for example) 'House of Blues' - maybe. Now, would I pay $50 to hear Jordin sing at the (for example) 'House of Blues' - hell no. Would I pay $15 for Melinda's CD - you bet. Would I pay $15 for Kiki's CD - you bet. Would I pay $15 for Blake's CD - you bet. Would I pay $15 for Jordin's CD - hello no. But then, I'm not in the demographic/marketing group that AI is targeting.
