American Idol brings the dream of super stardom within reach for a select group of contestants every year, yet paradoxically it is sometimes the show's most infamous losers that go on to garner the most success.  Now perhaps "loser" is too strong a word in this case, many argue that American Idol exposure alone can bring success, yet that has not been proven by the odds.  Here are four individuals that did find phenomenal success - of one form or another - in the wake of failing to become the "American Idol."

An article on the most successful non-winners in Idol history and no mention of Clay Aiken? Are you sure you've been keeping up with the show?

You include Kimberly Caldwell and not Clay Aiken? Clay's got two platinum albums. He sold 600,000 copies the first week of release. He's been on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Any article about the most successful losers that includes Kim but not Clay is woefully incomplete.

I would include the following as well:
Season 2 - Clay Aiken for sure. Josh Gracin and Kimberley Locke also had modest sucess.
Season 3 - Jasmine Trias has had success in the Philipino market and Diana DeGarmo is doing Broadway.
Season 5 - Elliott Yamin and Kellie Pickler have both done well. Kellie is on tour.
