Top Ten American IdolsThe American Idol Power Rankings make their return, and with a few shake-ups in the order.  Last week saw the incredible Sanjaya saga continue, as he stayed alive on the show once again, much to the chagrin of anyone who takes American Idol seriously (which no one really should, though millions do).  Should Melinda stay in the top spot?  Where should Sanjaya be?  Who should be the highest riser?

Obviously American Idol is not being judged for it's talent or actually taken seriously since Sanjaha is still in the running. Now come on let's be serious, but this child has no talent whatsoever and contestant who are actually talented are being booted off to keep him in the running. If this continues viewers are not going to keep watching, this is supposed to be a singing contest, and right now it's not. Come on America but are all of you deaf? Wake up and get real and vote for talent and not a joke.

I think Jordin's performance last week was the best one. She not only owned the song she sang it like she wrote it. I think Melinda is falling off a little bit. Both her and Lakisha's performances last week were not that great. The judges loved Melinda last week but I thought it was no where near either Blake's or Jordin's.
Gina I agree with you. She has some huge talent and is different from the rest of the girls. But I think her main problem is she thinks she has more talent then she does. So she belts out all of her songs. If she can learn to control them she could start to turn things upside down. I'm not holding my breath though.
As for the whole Sanjaha deal, I am not too worried about it. Every year there is a sub-par singer who keeps making it week after week. He does have a following and I would expect to see him make it a few more weeks. But I don't see him making it into the top 5. Top 6 maybe. The thing with him is, every week he is on, more people talk ab

he thing with him is, every week he is on, more people talk about it. This only helps American Idol. After all when you have a reality show, you want everyone talking about it. That is why they allow people like him into the top 24. They know they will make it a while and people will talk about it. But I think we are a ways away from having to worry about him winning.
As far as the "insider" tip.....Ha sounds like someone is getting a laugh somewhere. I highly doubt they are anyone within the American Idol establishment.
Regardless I find my self looking forward to the show tonight. I'm hoping to seeing what Blake comes up with tonight. I'm also curious to see if Jordin can keep tearing it up as she has the last two weeks. We shall see.

How about replacing one of the judges? Every week Paula rambles on with the same ol sappy crap. She needs to go! At least Simon tells it like it is and gives good constructive criticism. Look where it got Carrie Underwood!!!

(Not Abdul) After reading various commentaries and hearing ugly reports in the media full of Sanjaya shoot downs, I just have to speak up. America keeps voting him in while the media harps that he has no talent when he certainly does, indeed. Sure, he's rough around the edges but there is a star in him. And it's not his hair in my opinion, either. Frankly, he'd look better with it cut but then again I'm a mother of three boys with short hair. And I'll contend that his vocals and performing could use a bit of grooming as well. But talent is definitely there if you are capable of seeing past the inexperience. I think he's still on the show because he is unique and America can see past the rough edges just like I do. Reporters and other commentators seem to be getting their jollies whining about his success as they sit there feeling bad for Richardson 'because he just doesn't have the voice'. I'm not going to shoot him down, but why pity the rest who made it this far and clearly a

but why pity the rest who made it this far and clearly are not star material? Where's all the ugly sarcasm about them? Take Sligh, Scarnato, Glocksen, and Stacey. They can sing some sweet tunes on occasion but it only ever puts me in mind of good karaoke or a talent show... not stars by far. Yet never a bad word from the media. Then there's Doolittle and Jones who have those powerhouse voices who can sing anything! You could stop them at the grocery store and get swept off your feet should they start singing in the midst of their shopping! This is total talent 100%. It's like their vocal cords were alligned in such a superb way that all they have to do is open their mouths and glory comes out. But is America looking for powerhouse singers or for a gleaming light who represents the USA most? And then there's Sparks and Lewis..... Sparks shows definite skill and talent but she doesn't grab my attention as a star. And Lewis shows musical talent and star qualities that do grab m

And Lewis shows musical talent and star qualities that do grab me even though it's not directly his voice that gets me, rather his delivery. My point? While it is a 'singing competition' as Simon so regularly reminds us, a star has to grab you for the person they are and what they have to offer. I'm not going to say Sanjaya has the strongest voice but he has this gentle fire of rough talent America is brave enough to vote for despite unfavorable opinions of the judges. I picture him in a recording studio pouring out fantastic melodies written specifically for his style, heart, and passions and melting the hearts of every listener. He grabs many of us because there is a star in him. He is a diamond in the rough and America sees it! He just might be the next American Idol because America knows how to appreciate a rose before it blossoms and isn't this supposed to be about America's choice after all? I say the media needs to stop doggin' the ungroomed star and let America vote as s
