Let's face it, American Idol is huge, but in the grand scheme of things it hits, at its best, around ten percent of the American population. So it is conceivable, out of the around 300 million people in the USA alone, that there could be an anti-American Idol audience out there every bit as large. Imagine, if you will, that the anti-idol press after years of trying, and after gathering support from folks like Shock Jock 'Howard Stern', has finally reached enough of those people who just despise American Idol to finally make the difference. Why is this worth re-speculating yet again? According to a couple of American Idol fan sites, an alleged 'insider' has been sending around a statement that claims Sanjaya pulled ahead in the wake of Howard Sterns call for votes, as in... to the winners slot.To read the rest, click here.

Let's imagine that it's six months from now, and - for whatever reason - we're looking back on this Sanjaya phenomenon. Don't you think we might just feel a little bit silly? Now, let's think back to when we were teenagers and we were told we were supposed to think or behave a certain way. What did we think or do? You guessed it - the opposite. Now, with seemingly everybody telling AI viewers (a huge percentage of which are teens) that Sanjaya is the worst singer ever, and that they should hate him, what reaction do you expect to see? Ah huh, exactly what we're seeing - people voting for him. And furthermore, if I may make a statement bordering on blasphemy - actually watching him, he's not nearly as bad as you would expect, reading the articles and blogs. Far worse singers and performers have made millions - think about it. I won't mention names, but I'm sure they will come to mind. One last point - doesn't anybody get credit any more for improving? Because his last perform

Many famous artist have made millions on "bad vocals". He's not nearly as bad as some people claim. Anyhow, none of this is his fault. Give him a break.

What is Sanjaya thinking? He must be trying to appease the vote for the worst and the Howard Stern crowd at the same time with that "scare do" http://idol-mania.com/american-idol-fan/2007/03/27/what-the-hell-was-sanjaya-malakar-thinking-mohawk-ponytails/

To the blogger: if it's not such a big deal why would it actually almost make you throw up? That's a pretty strong response, for most people. I don't vote but I also don't support any anti-Idol sites. I'm entertained by Sanjaya, and I do agree he's brave. I enjoy watching him for that reason. And Pat, I would love to have another person as talented as Michael Jackson in America. (Not to say Sanjaya is it!).
