Sanjaya MalakarAll right, time for the American Idol Top 11.  Will Sanjaya finally make it impossible for America not to kick him off?  Please make it so.  These are my quick thoughts while watching the episode.

  • Ryan discusses forgetting the lyrics with Randy.  Concensus: inexcusable.  Paula discusses a naked Simon.  Consensus: Paula is not sane.

  • Nice!  The theme of the night is "The British Invasion".  We get a montage of The Beatles and all those British knock-offs that followed them over to America.  If they all choose good stuff, this could be one of the best batch of songs ever sung on an American Idol performance show, especially for the guys.  You've got The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Zombies, all sorts of good stuff.

Will they please let them sing something from this decade! I'm old and remember these songs but even the guys writing the commentary don't know half these songs.

Oscar, how YOUNG are you? "I Who Have Nothing" was recorded by the great Dame Shirley Bassey, who also recorded "Diamonds Are Forever", yes, one of the greatest Bond movie theme song ever. She's still a huge star, God bless her, and last year appeared on a Marks & Spencer TV advert in the UK singing Pink's "Get This Party Started". Golden!

Oh, give me a break. Find anyone else my age who knows the Zombies and Kinks and I'd be impressed.

"Oh God. Sanjaya Malakar is up next."
You could NOT have echoed my feelings more perfectly at that moment. Brilliant.

Though I can't give you credit for only "think"ing that "Diamonds are Forever" was a Bond theme song, when indeed, it's one of the most famous and recognizable theme songs.

American Idol cannot touch the singers and performers on the show "GREASE" on sundays, this show should be called " American Mowtown Idol"

Great show, overall! Jordin was tops for me tonight. I was somewhat speechless after Sanjaya's performance...it was definitely an improvement, but he still needs to be voted off! As for the crying girl--Hilarious!

Anybody noticing that the recap videos of the contestants are not the same as the "live" versions? In other words, when they go back and show the clips of each performance, they are often a different version of what was shown "live". Makes me wonder whether this is actually a truly live show or if we are all being duped here?
