idol-12.jpeg Every day may be a winding road for Sheryl Crow, but none of them lead to American Idol.   The bluesy pop idol had nothing but bad words for American Idol and its contestants in a recent MSNBC interview decrying the contests blatant commercialism and the participants wacky antics.   Does this mean we won't be seeing a Sheryl Crow night anytime soon on American Idol?  Read on to see what Sheryl has to say about America's number one singing contest.

Sheryl Crow is entitled to her opinion like anyone else is. AI helped Taylor Hicks to get known. The problem with AI is that "they pick who they want" and the ONGOING promotion is what does it. Taylor Hicks was never a fave of AI TPTB and Chris Daughtry was. Their CD's sold about the same for 1st and 2nd week, with Cris Daughtry being allowed to put his out before Taylor Hicks. Then the promotion began for Chris Daughtry, every week he is featured or mentioned on AI, his song is now the going home song, featured in a Simon commercial, was on Prison Break, now talk about 24 - so the his image and promotion is before the public all the time. Katharine McPhee as runner up has not received the extra "cream of the crop promotion" as an idol runner up. Elliott Yamin didn't either. The money is what AI is looking for so they picked Chris Daughtry. Chris has a great voice, but think about this - if anyone else who can sing is receiving all this extra boosting, couldn't anyone sell CD's?

Rhonda:

I totally agree with you. Simon has not hid his true feelings for Taylor, and went to the press to say that he "can't stand him." That should tell everybody something about WHY Taylor is being "dissed" by AI and TPTB, and it also lends credence to the rumors that are flying ramplant on the internet about how it's all a set-up to sabotage Taylor's career while boosting Chris's career through illegal CD sales inflation by scanning CD's that were never really purchased, but only scanned to boost the sales data, and radio payola to boost Chris's position on the music charts. After reading about this, it all falls in place for me, I feel they will stop at nothing to prove a point (they felt Chris should have won)but if the people wanted Chris to win, they would have voted for him.

I say Sheryl Crow is onto something, and I hope other musical artist and those in the music industry will catch on to the goings-on at American Idol, and how deceitful they have been in tricking

Sheryl Crow, may have something but, I am not sure what. You can say what you want about AI some real talent has come out of this program. As for Taylor, he's going to be around when Chris is forgotten. AI is pushing him shamely and everyone know it. Us to be no one was allowed to sign or release a single before the winner. This year AI had two runner up release singles before the winner and the second place person. This is why I feel Sheryl has something. They did not want Taylor and the public did. They wanted someone more commerical and they got him. I wish Chris all of the luck in the world just hope knows that if his second does not do as well they will drop him like a hot potato.

Good for Sheryl Crowe -- Hope she knows the truth about American Idol and spills her guts.
And don't think American Idol didn't help Taylor Hicks -- his fans are thankful every day that Taylor was on American Idol. His concert is selling out city after city and he puts on one hell of a show. He is a master entertainer. American Idol had the best ratings they ever had last year -- and do you know why -- because of the gray haired guy!! You have to admit that everyone watched because they wanted to see what he would do next. Love him or hate him -- Taylor made you smile and was FUN!! This season is BORING, BORING, BORING. Taylor still is FUN!!! He is the ultimate charismatic entertainer.

American Idol -- go ahead and keep pimping Chris and PRETEND that he is Season V AI -- it won't change the fact that TAYLOR HICKS IS THE SEASON V AMERICAN IDOL. You are just making yourselves look like fools!! Hope that Coke, Ford, Cellular One and whoever else is sponsoring that show (

(continuation of my post above) is paying attention because I am boycotting their products until Taylor Hicks gets the respect he deserves from American Idol.

It is a television show, for crying out loud!!!! None of this is earth shattering - its entertainment. I have watched almost every episode of every season. I laugh, I curse, agree and disagree with judges and the voters. I read posts on other sites (including VFTW). You would think AI determines the fate of the nation. The only CD I have purchased is Carrie's, but I keep watching the entertainment - that's all it is!

I totally agree with Wilbur from Illinois. American Idol is a TV show; its entertainment. I don't watch it regularly, but when I do, it is entertaining. My personal favorite is Carrie - she's great!!!
Who cares which of the contestants AI stands behind and tries to promote - It is all decided financially. EVERY SINGLE CONTESTANT WAS GIVEN A GIFT OF AN OPPORTUNITY AND THEY SHOULD APPRECIATE IT!!! It is a TV show. I love Sheryl Crow's music, but she is taking this AI thing a bit too seriously if she thinks there is a problem with this not being art. Silly girl.
