American Idol: The Sanjaya Situation

Sanjaya Malakar, in a baffling result, has made it into the Top 12 of this season's American Idol. I'm not an Idol historian; this is my first full year watching the show. However, I feel confident in saying that Sanjaya will be the worst singer to ever make it into an American Idol top 12. Before we go on, I want to say that my intentions are not malicious towards Sanjaya. I actually feel bad for him. Unless he's completely delusional (which, I suppose, is possible), it must be heart-wrenching to perform every week when you know that you are, by far, the worst singer that will hit the stage that night.

And this isn't just one person's opinion. I bet if you asked one million musicians and music experts about who was the worst male singer on American Idol these past few episodes, one million of them would say Sanjaya.

I couldnt have said it better!!! That guy is a bad joke and I really did like Sundance. He was a good singer. Sunjy Bungy couldnt carry a tune in a 5 gallon bucket. I think the show should be changed to who can we vote off, not who can we vote for. I am about to quit watching it at all, because the show is becoming a travisty. The crop of talent that is left on the show is very bland to say the least.

It's like a year or two ago with the little guy who looked just like Chicken Little ....he kept making the cut and making the cut.

WTF is going on with this show?!?!? Seriously... I am just so shocked. Him being gone was a sure thing... Hailey making it I can get a bit more because she does has a nice voice. Another thing that really angers me is how Simon talking so rudely to her every week. Its horrible.

THIS SHOW IS RIDICULOUS. All the indians on Friendster are voting for this dude. And Sabrina got cut as well. Nonsense.

I'm done with this show...it's absolute crap...Who is voting for this Sunjaya, 13 year old girls? I just hope that Sundance gets a good record deal and that Sunjaya doesn't take too much crap and embarrassmet as the show goes on...

Good article, Oscar, although I'd take issue with your statement that Sundance has "inarguably" the best voice. I too liked him--loved the potential he showed in the first audition--but it is *certainly* arguable whether or not he is the best.
