Kiefer SutherlandAt 12:01 this morning, 24 star Kiefer Sutherland was released from the Glendale City Jail after serving 48 days for his second DUI conviction.  After his release, one of the officers on hand mentioned that Sutherland was an "excellent inmate."  Now that the actor is free, we can all go back to worrying about the state of 24.  FOX has delayed season 7 of the series due to the writers' strike, and there are currently some distressing rumors regarding their plans for the new season if the strike should continue through the coming months.

Even though it does violate the 24-hour concept, I'd be fine with two separate mini-seasons. The fact remains that, great as some seasons have been, the show has never been able to have a flawless year. There's always some stretch, be it 3 episodes of half a season, that sucks. Perhaps by condensing an entire storyline into 10 or 14 episodes, they could maximize the quality.

You know I loved him in LOST BOYS and Flatline with Kevin Bacon , and I got both DVD's but I think it's time Fox terminated this series.

I think Fox may have to change up the concept eventually. One suggestion I've heard is to keep it in real time, but instead of 24 straight hours, maybe try 24 hours bouncing around various days. I agree that there's always a few episodes here and there that don't work, but that's the case in the season of almost any show.

I would hate to wait but then I would wait til summer and get a whole 24 hour 24, if of course the writers strike is over and if not 2 mini seasons following the same storyline...
mmm, not perfect but something.....

You have to stay will the original concept.Hardcore 24 fans little myself would be very disappointed and would eventually start to go away. May i remind you, that it's is the 24 hr concept that pulls us all in. To do anything less, would make 24 just another typical show.

I don't think it's the 24-hour concept as much as the real-time. For instance, if season 6 ended when Jack killed the bad guy and we never got the tacked on Audrey stuff, I'd have been more than fine. The real-time is why we tune in, the 24 hours thing is just a gimmick.

I can't believe it, but I agree with TheEditor... Real-time is the key to the show, the suspense is lost without it. Whether they complete 24 shows or 12 shows doesn't matter. Mini seasons is my vote. A two year wait is ridiculous. Even the best fans may not wait around that long, and less TV viewership takes a potential movie completely off the table at that point.
