says the U.S. Military. Anyone else read this in the news? I reckon it does more damage to the worldwide perception of the US Military than harm to the troops themselves (although everyone the world over already hates the U.S. Military so what more harm can be done?) Even before 24 people knew torture methods were used by many governments. Shouting about it only draws more attention - stoopid

My intent was actually to start a thread regrading this. This is actually quite serious as the US military has sought out the producers to tell them how the show has influenced soldiers resposible for the capture and interrogation of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan in a negative way. The complete story can be found on the Indepeddnent UK site (which I cannot link to becuase of a stipulating that I need to have posted 5 times) Thoughts anyone (aside from snickering)?

I think the point is that Jack's quickness to resort to torture legitimizes it in the minds of some young soldiers, apparantly. Part of the problem here is that the show conveys he message that torture is effective as an interrogation technique. If one's aim is to get actioable and accurate intelligence, it is not; if your aim to is demonstrate your power and terrorize the opoulation, it works quite well.

Sorry for the typos My question for fellow fans is whether we think Jack would be able to his job without the torture?

| Senior Member | If there is a race against time and info is needed in minutes you don't have, then sure, if torture will make a known terrorist talk, then how can you refuse it? Jack could do A job but may not be as effective.

this is fictional, and kiefer himself has said been asked if this show wasnt worrying him about terrorists getting ideas etc, and well, if he was giving em ideas, they´d be pretty stupid terrorists indeed, same thing goes for torture, the idea is basically in the back of the head of the interrogators i guess, but whatever the reason, it doesnt legitimize it, jus cuz u watch a tv show.
